Frequently Asked Questions
1. ABOUT YOUR SERVICE

How long does a general pest treatment take?

A general pest treatment typically takes between 1-5 hours, depending on the size of the house or commercial property.

Do we have to leave the premises during a general pest treatment?

In most cases, you can remain indoors during the treatment. However, if you have health conditions, asthma, or sensitivity to smells, please inform us in advance. We may suggest leaving the premises for a few hours. Pets should be kept away from treated areas to avoid exposure to the wet products. After 2-3 hours, once the products have dried, the area will be safe for everyone.

Can you spray in kitchens and around food?

Yes. Food must be properly sealed and stored (chemicals cannot get onto the food), however we use specific chemicals for areas such as kitchens and laundries that have low toxicity to humans. We do recommend clearing the areas to be treated and removing any food or items that could be exposed.

How long until the spray dries?

It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the weather, including factors like humidity and temperature. Once dry, children and pets can safely return to the treated areas.

Do you use environmentally friendly pest control methods?

Yes, we prioritize eco-friendly methods and use products with minimal environmental impact whenever possible.

Does the general pest treatment cover termites?

No, general pest treatments do not affect termites. Termites are treated with entirely different chemicals. A specialised investigation conducted by a licensed and experienced Termite Inspector (Termite Inspection to AS3660-2) is required for this purpose to Australian Standards. We offer termite inspections and treatments at an additional cost.

What should I do to prepare for my pest treatment?

To ensure effective treatment, please unlock external gates and remove any obstacles that may block access. Close all windows, clear washing lines, and move furniture or large appliances away from walls. Also, please ensure parking is available near your property for our technicians’ convenience.

How can I pay for my treatment?

Payment is due upon completion of the treatment. We accept cash, credit cards, or direct debit for your convenience.

2. AFTER YOUR SERVICE

What do we recommend after your general pest spray/ treatment?
  • Avoid cleaning or painting walls for four weeks, as this could remove or cover the treatment.
  • Externally, avoid hosing or pressure cleaning the treated areas as long as possible.
Are the chemicals we use harmful to people and or pets?

While we use eco-friendly products, the general chemicals are only toxic to humans and pests while wet. To ensure safety, we recommend keeping children and pets away from treated areas for 2-3 hours until the products have fully dried, reducing the risk of contact or ingestion.

Yes – We do recommend covering Fish, Reptile tanks and Bird cages.

What should I do if I come into contact with wet pest control chemicals?

Please call the Poison Information Centre ASAP. Their number is 131 126.

Does everything need to be washed after your general pest control treatment?

No, you do not need to wash everything after a treatment. The products we use are low in toxicity to humans and washing them away makes the treatment ineffective.

Will the treatment still work if it rains on the day?

If it rains or is too windy, the treatment may be rescheduled. If the area is dry once the rain has passed, the treatment can proceed. We perform a risk assessment before each service to ensure weather conditions won’t compromise effectiveness or safety.

Are ants always controlled by a general pest spray?

Severe ant infestations may require additional treatment with a non-repellent chemical, one which allows a slow release to enable transfer to other ants to kill off the colony. We will advise the best course of action once we determine the extent of the infestation.

If we treat rodents in the roof, will they die there?

There’s a possibility, but typically rodents seek water and leave the roof space before they die after consuming the poison.

I have just had a general pest treatment, why am I still seeing pests?

The repellent used for spraying will flush out the pests from cracks and crevices and as the insects are affected by the treatment, they move slower and are therefore more noticeable. So insect numbers may appear to increase for up to four weeks following a treatment.

What are the signs of a pest problem?

There are a few key signs that indicate you may have a pest problem in your home, you may:

  • See droppings or shed skin
  • Hear noises like scurrying or fluttering in your walls or attic
  • Smell an infestation, especially cockroaches
  • Notice visible damage, such as chewed wires or holes in walls.
How can I prevent a pest problem?

There are several things you can do to help prevent a pest problem:

  • Seal any cracks or openings around your home. This includes gaps around doors and windows and cracks in the foundation or walls.
  • Eliminate sources of food and water. This means keeping food in sealed containers, repairing leaks, and regularly cleaning up crumbs and spills.
  • Keep your yard clean and free of debris. Regularly mow the lawn, trim bushes and trees, and remove any clutter that could provide shelter for pests.
  • Store firewood at least 10 metres away from your home.
How often should I have my home inspected for pests?

We recommend at least one general pest treatment per year. However, depending on your property’s location or age, more frequent treatments may be necessary. For termites, the Australian Standard (AS3660.2) recommends annual inspections, though more frequent visits may be required based on your circumstances.

Do you have a warranty?

Yes. Our work comes with a 3 month warranty. However, our warranty does not cover (or becomes void if):

  • Recommended action is not taken (i.e.: at the time of service, the technician tells you to clean the property of debris to stop infestation and this is not done)
  • The return of a small number of insects (we only cover a repeat infestation)
  • Pest occurrences within 5 days of the treatment (as pests can take up to 5 days to die off)
  • Termites
  • Wasps
  • Ants (unless Termidor is used, which is a slightly more expensive treatment but more effective.
